The Emerald Tablet

December 16th, 2009

“True, without error, certain and most true; that
which is above is as that which is below, and
that which is below is as that which is above,
for performing the miracles of the One Thing;
and as all things are from one, by the mediation
of one, so all things arose from this one thing
by adaptation; the father of it is the Sun, the
mother of it is the Moon; the wind carried it in
its belly; the name thereof is the Earth.

This is the father of all perfection, or
consummation of the whole world.

The power of it is integral, if it is turned into earth:
Thou shalt separate the earth from the fire the
subtle from the gross, gently, with much
sagacity; it ascends from Earth to heaven, and
again descends to Earth: and revives the
strength of the superiors and of the inferiors.

So thou hast the glory of the whole world;
therefore let all obscurity flee before thee.
This is the strong fortitude of all fortitudes,
overcoming every subtle, and penetrating
every solid, thing. So the world was created.

Hence were all wonderful adaptations of
which this is the manner. Therefore am I
called Thrice-Great Hermes, having the three
parts of the Philosophy of the whole world.
That which I have written is consummated
concerning the Operation of the Sun.”

Hermes-Trismegistus

The Immortal Body – Part 3

December 5th, 2009

Here is part 3 –

In the east it is well attested that an enlightened being may alter the appearance of their manifest form to skilfully meet the needs of their work. The Risen Christ did not appear in the likeness of Jesus, as his disciples had known him immediately before his crucifixion and earlier. So the Risen Christ was not just a resuscitated or a reawakened Jesus. The Risen One was Jesus in a utterly new form. That is why even those who had been part of Jesus’ inner circle only recognized him by some intimate sign. Thomas when he touched the wounds, Mary of Magdala when the unknown ‘gardener’ spoke her name; or the two disciples, who “… knew him in the breaking of bread”.

The reasons why the form of risen Jesus looked different is because he now wore an ageless and timeless body. His face was clear window for his true being, for his Spirit. In most of us, only our eyes are ‘windows for the soul’ – in a realized Sage, every single atom is radiant with “I Am”. Another reason for the change of Jesus’ appearance was because he willed it so. There are many accounts of other sages doing the same, Padmasambhava, the Comte de St Germain, Nicholas Flammel – to name a few.

Only those people who had already experienced the true Self of Jesus – through the alchemy of realization or that of love – were able to identify the Risen One as Jesus. Because of their earlier experiences of receiving spiritual teaching from him, of bathing in his aura, they were already attuned to his true Being, and could see in the new form that Self made manifest. Thus a great Bodhisattva can ‘appear’ in whatever form is useful to help others.

Dionysius the Areopagite, one of the greatest of the Christian Initiates, taught that the body of the risen Christ was both male and female. This is the same teaching as that symbolized by the hermaphrodite in Alchemy.

The Immortal Body is destined goal of human evolution. It is inherent in us all. It unites the most far-reaching hopes of humankind. In this form, this envelope of Enlightened consciousness,  life and death are wedded together by the Ruach-Elohim, ‘Breath of Eternal Life’. To the Sage who is at-one with the Radiant Life-Breath, to inhale is to embody – to exhale is disembody. This pair-of-opposites are simply like the upward and downward wing-beats of an eagle that flies from infinity to infinity.

The Immortal Body – Part 2

Interested in learning Astral Projection

The Incorruptible Body is the result of the condition in which Spirit, Soul and Body are equally deathless. In other words, when the Body is so spiritualized that it no longer shares the mortality of Nature, but is saturated with the immortality of the Spirit. … a Realized One is, on the one hand as free from physical limitations as is someone who has died (gravity, time, space and bank accounts :) ; and on the other hand, s/he is just as capable of operating and working in the earthly realm as any incarnate person, as any embodied human being.

The Risen Christ is a good example of this: he could appear in a locked and secured house, and, after having manifested within the house, his form could be physically seen, heard, and touched; and could share a meal with the people. The body of the Realized Sage does not “consist” of passive matter, but is the liberated ensouling energy – belonging to the Soul and to the Spirit – that has the powers to materialize -  and so make use of physical form and function. This Incorruptible Body is not just the result of a composite of materials, it is a prism for the power that, gathers, forms, and moves matter. The realized Sage has mastered of matter of space and time – so he is ‘thrice great’, like Hermes Trismegistus.

For such a one, the energy that was ‘trapped’ in the matter of the body is now free. And this freed [energy] can be willed, at any time, to materialization, or back again into dematerialization. This is the highest aspect of the alchemical praxes of ‘Solve et Coagula’ – to manifest and to dissolve. Thus one who has attained the Immortal Body can appear and disappear at will, because s/he controls the processes of formation and dissolution, and is therefore a master of life and death. Each time s/he materializes, and takes on a from that physical senses can perceive, the entire process of incarnation is repeated in a few moments. Every time the Sage dissolves their body from physical vibratory rates, the whole process of dissolution that happens after death, is rapidly repeated in moments. The whole process of incarnation and evolution is a ‘continual event’ for one whose consciousness is rooted in eternity.

The Immortal Body – Part 1

November 22nd, 2009

The deathless vehicle of the enlightened Sage has different names in various traditions. In Sanskrit it is called the Kriya-shakti-manu-kosha. Taoism calls it the ‘Golden Flower’. Tibetan Buddhism calls it Jalus – the ‘Rainbow-Body of Clear Light’, or sometimes, the Vajra-Body. The ancient Egyptians called it the ‘Solar Body[1]’. And it has also been called the ‘Resurrection Body’, and the ‘Body of Pure Crystal’.

Western Alchemy often calls it the Corpus Incorruptibilis, which is Latin for the ‘Incorruptible Body’. This term is from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the community in Corinth[2]. In this letter, Paul explains, that, since Jesus attained this immortal body – so can you! Remember, Paul was a trained Qabalist, and he clearly tells how this is to be done: …” this corruptible [body] must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality … then shall be brought to pass the saying … ‘Death is swallowed up [digested, consumed] in Victory [Netzach, Eternity].” Paul gives this advice, since Jesus showed how to complete human evolution, we should use the same method – ‘be steadfast … always abounding in the Work of the Lord.’ Steadfast in the ‘Work of Adonai’, in the Great Work; which is: to find THAT which is Eternal within you, and then you can see it in everyone else, and enjoy it everywhere!

But what is this Immortal Body that is the natural consequence of complete Self-realization? I say ‘natural consequence’ because since it is consciousness that creates any body that we wear, enlightened and liberated conscious must produce a deathless body.
